About Our School
In March 2011 the school had an interim Ofsted inspection, and the inspectors again judged us to be an outstanding school.
We have a proven track record of ensuring our children’s’ attainment and progress is exceptional; over time pupils’ attainment in Statutory Assessments consistently exceed national expectations.
In March 2014 the DfE designated Gillshill Primary School as a National Teaching School. We take the lead on recruiting the next generation of teachers.
In addition, the school holds a number of prestigious Awards such as the Arts Council Gold Artsmark, the International School Award, Science Quality Mark and the Basic Skills Quality Mark. This National Award recognises the very high standards of attainment and teaching in English and Maths across the whole school.
The school has had the Warwick Award renewed for its commitment to developing Enterprise skills and opportunities for pupils throughout the school.
‘Sport for all’ is at the heart of our PE curriculum, where we provide exciting sporting opportunities at a range of levels for all pupils.
We currently hold the prestigious Sainsbury’s Gold Award.
At Gillshill, there is a very strong partnership with parents.
Ofsted found that:
Parents are overwhelmingly supportive of the school, because, in the words of one, they are ‘proud their children are part of such a wonderful learning community’. They say the school has an exceptional outlook and meets pupils’ needs tremendously well so that pupils flourish socially and academically.
